Beaches by train
Devon and Cornwall have some of the best beaches in the country, from small secluded coves on the south coast to the wide expanses of pristine golden sands on the north. You can reach some of the best of them by train:
- For family-friendly safe beaches, visit Looe (on the Looe Valley Line), Porthminster Beach in St Ives – pictured above – or Carbis Bay (also on the St Ives Bay Line). On The Riviera Line, destinations like Teignmouth and Paignton have great beaches to explore, as well as Exmouth on the Avocet Line.
- Thrill seekers will prefer the beaches on the north coast such as Newquay (on the Atlantic Coast Line) where you can surf, body board or try sea canoeing.
Whichever beach you choose, remember to stay safe and follow the Beach Safety Code. Have fun!
