Did you know you can travel by train from Truro to St Ives – including a journey along one of the UK’s most scenic railway lines?
With regular services, easy connections and beautiful coastal views, check out this perfect car-free day out in Cornwall.

Your journey starts in Truro, where two trains an hour on the Cornish Main Line make travelling to St Ives even easier.
From Truro, hop on the train towards Penzance and change at St Erth station, now with step-free access thanks to the new footbridge and lifts.
Head towards platform 3 to hop aboard the famous St Ives Bay Line – widely considered one of the most scenic stretches of railway in the UK – which also has two trains an hour.
Journey times from Truro to St Ives are typically around 50 minutes to an hour, including the change at St Erth, and run 7 days a week.
Top tip – get a Devon & Cornwall Railcard (just £13 a year and now available online) to save a third on the above fare for you and a friend. You can also bring up to four children for just £2 each.

Once you arrive in St Ives, there’s plenty to explore just a short walk from the station.
Right next to the station, you’ll find Porthminster Beach – or head into town to browse independent shops and galleries, or stop for food with a sea view around the harbour.
If you fancy stretching your legs, join a section of the South West Coast Path for stunning coastal views towards Porthmeor Beach (pictured above).
For something a little quieter, The Tate and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden offers a peaceful spot to enjoy St Ives’ famous artistic heritage.
