Hop on the train to Calstock this Easter, with kids travelling half price (5–15yrs old) and under 5s free, to explore the Easter trail at Cotehele National Trust.
Creature Easter Trail at Cotehele – 28 March – 19 April, 10am – 4pm

Discover the wildlife that lives at Cotehele, from birds and insects to mammals, with 10 activity stations dotted around the garden. Keep an eye out for hidden eggs along the way!
The trail costs £3.50 per child and includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and a chocolate egg (with vegan and Free From options available).

Take the scenic Tamar Valley Line from Plymouth station to Calstock (around 30 minutes).
From Calstock, it’s a 1.2-mile walk to Cotehele, following the river before heading uphill through woodland (steep in parts).
Bonus tip: You can mix up your journey by walking one way and taking the Calstock Ferry between Calstock village and Cotehele Quay. Visit www.calstockferry.com for times, and call 07783 432280 before travelling to check the service is running.
Once you arrive, you can stop at the Barn Restaurant near the house for a drink or bite to eat, or head straight into the gardens.
The Off-Peak Day Return fare is £8.30 for adults and ££4.15 for children (5-15). Under 5s travel free.
