Autumn day trips from Saltash

Hop on the train this autumn for adventures galore from Saltash. Here are three ideas to get you started:

The Box, Plymouth

Discover The Box, Plymouth’s award-winning museum and gallery. Just 10 minutes’ walk from Plymouth station, check out the giant naval figureheads, meet the woolly mammoth and even try presenting the news in the Media Lab. Free entry.

East Looe beach

Change at Liskeard on to the scenic Looe Valley Line for great views alongside the estuary. Arriving in Looe, it’s a 13-minute walk through the narrow streets or beside the harbour to the sandy East Looe beach, complete with its iconic Banjo Pier. Note: after Sunday 26 October, Looe trains are Mon-Sat only until the spring.

Mars: War and Peace, Truro Cathedral

Running until Sunday 2nd November, head to Truro Cathedral (12 minutes’ walk from Truro station) to see Mars! It’s free during the day (and no need to book). In the evening, the red planet is illuminated (booking required, £6.50 adults, under 11s free). Find out more.

There’s also a Mars half-term trail at Truro’s Cornwall Museum.
