It’s the big one! On Wednesday 3rd July, set off on a scenic 11-mile walk from Liskeard to Looe with professional Blue Badge tour guide, Mark Camp.
UPDATE – FULLY BOOKED
Mark will be waiting to greet you at Liskeard station’s main entrance at 10am (if arriving from Plymouth – see below for train times). Join him as you traverse the East Looe Valley to seek out the beginnings of the West Looe River, which you will follow all the way to the bridge in Looe.
Hear about the history of the area with discussions on explosives, lime, silver and charcoal as you take in the flora and fauna. Discover some of South East Cornwall’s hidden corners as you walk down the valley, away from roads and the hustle and bustle of Liskeard and Looe.
The walk is approximately 11-miles long, with one steep climb. Please be sure to bring a packed lunch, plenty of water and don’t forget to wear appropriate shoes and clothing.
Please note: dogs are not permitted on the walk. And we promise politics won’t be mentioned!
The guided walk is free to attend, but you will need to buy train tickets as usual (and book in with Mark by email – see below).
If coming from Plymouth, buy your train ticket at Plymouth station:
Plymouth – Looe Off-Peak Day Return £8.20
This is the cheapest ticket to get from Plymouth (even though you won’t be using the outward Liskeard-Looe portion.)
If coming from Liskeard, at the end of the walk on the train back from Looe you’ll just need to buy a single from the conductor on board:
Looe – Liskeard Anytime Day Single £5.80
UPDATE – FULLY BOOKED
To book your place on this walk please email Mark at walkaboutwest@btinternet.com and let him know how many people are in your party. Mark will email you back to confirm your booking.
From Plymouth catch the 09.12, arriving in Liskeard for 09.42 – allowing you plenty of time to meet Mark at Liskeard station’s main entrance at 10am.
The walk will finish in time for you to catch the 16.25 train from Looe, arriving into Liskeard at 16.51 where you can catch an onward train to Plymouth at 17.19, arriving at 17.45.
Top tip – get a Devon & Cornwall Railcard (just £12 a year and now available online) to save a third on the above fares for you and a friend.
