Free guided walk: Looe’s history & coastal views

This article is more than 8 months old.

Hop on the scenic Looe Valley Line on Thursday 18th April and head out on a free guided walk with professional Blue Badge tour guide, Mark Camp. Enjoy stunning views of the estuary as you ride the train, learn about Looe’s fascinating history from a local perspective and meet new people.

The walk

Mark will be there to greet you off the train at Looe (see below for train times). You’ll first walk into Looe, zigzagging through the town, before heading up through woodland and back via the stunning South West Coast Path.

The walk is approximately 2.5 miles long and should take around 3 hours. There will be time to pick up a pasty as you pass through Looe, or you can bring your own packed lunch. Don’t forget to wear appropriate shoes and clothing.

Please note: dogs not permitted on the walk.

How to book

This guided walk is free to attend, but you will need to buy train tickets as usual. Buy online or at Plymouth/ Liskeard station. To book your place on this walk please email Mark at walkaboutwest@btinternet.com and let him know how many people are in your party. Mark will email you back to confirm your booking.

Get there by train

Catch the 10.36 train from Liskeard then sit back and relax as you enjoy the famous views along the picturesque Looe Valley Line. Hop off in Looe where Mark will meet you at the station and the guided walk will begin (at 11.04).

If you’re coming from Plymouth, catch the 9.45, arriving into Liskeard at 10:12, giving you time to walk over to platform 3 where you’ll catch the 10.36 down to Looe.
