Visit Lynton and Lynmouth for the stunning North Devon coastline, famous cliff railway and great local food.
It’s easy by train and onward bus. Take the scenic Tarka Line from Exeter to Barnstaple, then hop on bus 309/310 right outside the railway station.
PLACES TO EXPLORE
In our video, we explored the two picturesque villages, ate at Lynton’s Charlie Fridays, enjoyed the views of the coast, took the Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway and finally headed to the 14th Century Rising Sun Hotel for a well-earned drink.
GETTING THERE
Trains to Barnstaple depart hourly from Exeter St David’s and Exeter Central, seven days a week. Arriving into Barnstaple, head to Bus Stop A right outside the railway station to take the 309/310 to Lynton and Lynmouth. Bus departures are conveniently timed with trains. Buses run hourly through most of the day (Mon-Sat). Note: limited bus service on Sundays.
JOURNEY TIME
The train from Exeter to Barnstaple takes 1hr 10min. From Barnstaple railway station, the bus takes 1hr 5 min to Lynton or 1hr 15min to Lynmouth.
