Travel tips:

Where’s the station?
See a Google Map showing Exeter Central (it’s on Queen Street, EX4 3SB). Read about the station’s facilities on the National Rail Enquiries website.

How long does it take?
Barnstaple to Exeter Central takes approximately an hour and a quarter. Crediton to Exeter Central takes 15 to 20 minutes.

How frequent are the trains?
Trains on the Tarka Line (Exeter-Barnstaple) run hourly through most of the day in both directions, Monday to Saturday (and approximately every two hours on Sundays).

Where can I look up train times?
See live departures from Barnstaple to Exeter Central, look up train times for future journeys, or download the Tarka Line timetable (PDF).

How much does it cost? And how do I buy tickets?
Fares are great value. For example £10 Off-Peak Day Return from Barnstaple – valid on all trains after 07 00 on weekdays, and any time at weekends. Buy your ticket at the station ticket office or ticket machine before boarding the train (there’s no need to book in advance as the price is the same on the day). From Crediton the equivalent fare is £4.60 (valid after 09 30 on weekdays, any time at weekends – buy your ticket on the train, as there are no ticket buying facilities at the station).
