Hop on the scenic Tamar Valley Line to Bere Ferrers for the 25th Anniversary Apple Festival on Saturday 4th October!
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the much-loved Bere Ferrers Apple Fest, organised by the Tavy and Tamar Apple Group. To celebrate, there will be extra displays and activities to make this a truly special event!
The festival is free to attend and takes place in Bere Ferrers Church Hall and garden from 13:00 – 17:00. The Hall is less than 10 minutes walk from the station (see train times below).
Bring your apples along to be pressed into juice using either the large hydraulic press or a smaller hand press – don’t forget to bring containers to take your juice home! You’ll also be able to buy apples or freshly pressed juice on the day.
New this year:
Of course, favourites return too:
And of course, you’ll find plenty of pasties, cakes, tea, coffee, and apple drinks on sale.
Bere Ferrers is a beautiful riverside village, so why not combine your visit with a walk (get directions for a three-mile circular walk) and a meal at the local pub, The Olde Plough (booking recommended), for a perfect day out in the countryside.
Trains leave Plymouth station at 12:24 and 14:24, with return services from Bere Ferrers at 15:40 and 18:00. The journey takes just twenty minutes. Trains also call at Devonport, Keyham, and St Budeaux Victoria Road, and (by request) at Dockyard.
