Railway songs and sea shanties in Bere Ferrers

Hop on the Tamar Valley Line train to Bere Ferrers this Saturday, 19th July, for an afternoon of music, cream teas and heritage as part of the Railway 200 celebrations – marking 200 years of Britain’s railway history.

What’s on

The Tamar Belle heritage centre (pictured, tucked behind Bere Ferrers station – see map at the foot of this blog post) is celebrating its 35th year, and is hosting local folk group The Tavy Tars who’ll be performing railway songs and sea shanties at 3pm and 4pm. Cream teas and cakes will be available. If you’d like a cream tea, please book ahead by calling Chris on 07813 360066.

More to see and do

Bere Ferrers is a beautiful riverside village, and a visit to the event can be combined with a three-mile circular walk and lunch at the local pub, The Olde Plough (booking recommended), for a great day out in the countryside.
