Falmouth half-term fun – get there by train

Falmouth is the perfect family day out this half term – beat the traffic and get there by train on the Maritime Line. Here’s what’s on:


The National Maritime Museum

The Silhouettes & Shadows activities listed below are all free as part of the Museum’s annual admission fee. Pay once and get in free for a year.

Silhouettes and Shadows (Saturday 26 October –  Sunday 3 November / 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00)

Join in with the eerie shadow pirate puppet stories and songs in the Main Hall, performed by Starbox Theatre of Shadows and Wilderness Music.

Make & Take (Saturday 26 October –  Sunday 3 November / 12:30 – 15:30 / Last entry at 15.15)

Try your hand at making a mythical Cornish puppet then take to the little stage to put on a show!

Halloween trail (Sat 26 October – Sunday 3 November)

Find the shadowy scenes around the Museum to explore Cornwall’s spooky myths and legends. When you find all five will you choose a trick or treat?


Pendennis Castle

Saturday 26th – Sunday 3rd November from 10:00 – 16:00.

Grab your broomstick and head over to Pendennis Castle this October half-term!

Listen to spooky stories and take part in their Halloween quest. Complete the activities and solve clues to become a Halloween hero!

Get there by train

From Falmouth Town station, it’s just a 5-min walk to the Museum. For Pendennis Castle, it’s just a 12-minute walk from Falmouth Docks station.

Adult Off-Peak Day Return fares:

  • Newquay to Falmouth £9.30
  • Plymouth to Falmouth £14.10

Kids travel half-price (5-15yr olds). Under 5s free.
