Be at both the start and climactic finale of Stage 2 of the Tour of Britain when it visits Devon on Monday 3 September.

It’s easy by train and costs just £12.40 from Exeter with a Devon Day Ranger ticket (buy at the station on the day).

Talk to the teams and riders - among whom are big names including Geraint Thomas and Chris Froome - on the 8-minute walk from the station to the Event Village in the centre of Cranbrook (map).

TRAIN TICKETS

Buy a Devon Day Ranger ticket at Exeter St Davids or Exeter Central and it will cover all the journeys shown in the itinerary above.

It costs £12.40 per adult or £6 per child (5-15yrs). There’s no need to pre-book, just buy your ticket on the day.

Get a third off with a Devon & Cornwall Railcard (just £11 a year) or with a national railcard, excluding 16-25 Railcard (read why).

Setting off from somewhere other than Exeter?

If you want to follow our suggested itinerary arriving at Cranbrook at 09 40 but are beginning your journey from a different station (i.e. not Exeter Central or Exeter St Davids), here is how it works:

SETTING OFF FROM:

PINHOE, HONITON, AXMINSTER, DAWLISH or TOPSHAM (and northwards on the Avocet Line)

The Devon Day Ranger will cover your whole trip. Look up train times.

SETTING OFF FROM:

PLYMOUTH, TOTNES, NEWTON ABBOT or TEIGNMOUTH

You will need to buy a single to Dawlish (to cover the part of your journey before 09 00 on this route) and a Devon Day Ranger. You can do this on the day and at the same time from your local station. There is no need to physically get off the train at Dawlish. The Devon Day Ranger will cover the whole of your return journey. Look up train times.

SETTING OFF FROM:

TORBAY stations

You will need to buy a single to Exeter St David's (to cover your journey before 09 00 on this route) and a Devon Day Ranger. You can do this on the day and at the same time from your local station. The Devon Day Ranger will cover the whole of your return journey. Look up train times.

SETTING OFF FROM:

EXMOUTH, LYMPSTONE VILLAGE and EXTON

You will need to buy a single to Topsham (to cover the part of your journey before 09 00 on this route) and a Devon Day Ranger. You can do this on the day and at the same time from your local station. There is no need to physically get off the train at Topsham. The Devon Day Ranger will cover the whole of your return journey. Look up train times.

Interested in just the start or just the finish?

An Off-Peak Day Return between Exeter and Cranbrook is just £3.80, or between Exeter and Barnstaple is £10.70. Look up train times.

Travelling in a small group?

Groups of three to nine people travelling together get a third off thanks to the GroupSave discount.

How to get your tickets

You can buy Off-Peak Day Returns on the day at the station, or in advance on the South Western Railway or Great Western Railway websites and then collect from the ticket machine at the station.

BIKES ON THE TRAIN

Due to limits on bicycle spaces on board, spectators are politely requested not to bring bikes with them on the train to the Tour of Britain events.

Given the nature of the day, demand for bicycle spaces would be likely to outstrip capacity on both South Western Railway and Great Western Railway services, and neither rail operator wants passengers to be disappointed or inconvenienced on the day.
