Hop on the scenic Tamar Valley Line to Bere Ferrers for the 26th Annual Apple Fest on Saturday 3rd October!

Organised by the Tavy and Tamar Apple Group, the event promises a fantastic afternoon celebrating all things apples, with lots of extra displays and activities planned for 2026.
The festival is free to attend and takes place at Bere Ferrers Church Hall from 1pm to 5pm.
Bring your apples along to be pressed into juice using the large hydraulic press or smaller hand press. Both will be producing gallons of juice from apples brought along by visitors, so don’t forget to bring containers to take your juice home! You’ll also be able to buy apples and freshly produced juice on the day.
New this year, a special unit will demonstrate how to pasteurise apple juice or turn it into cider, with equipment on display which members can hire.
Of course, there will be plenty of returning favourites too:
There will also be plenty of refreshments available in the Hall, including pasties, cakes, tea, coffee and apple drinks.
Bere Ferrers is a beautiful riverside village, so why not combine your visit with a walk (get directions for a three-mile circular walk) and a meal at the local pub, The Olde Plough (open 12-3 and 5.30-10, booking recommended), for a perfect day out in the countryside.
From Bere Ferrers station, its just a short walk (0.3 miles) to the Church Hall, where the festival takes place.
Trains leave Plymouth station at 12:25 (arriving at Bere Ferrers at 12:43) and 14:24 (arriving 14:42), with return services from Bere Ferrers at 15:40 and 18:00. Trains also call at Devonport, Keyham, St Budeaux Victoria Road and (by request) Dockyard.
An Off-Peak Day Return fare from Plymouth to Bere Ferrers is £6.80 for an adult, £3.40 for a child (5-15 years).
Save a third off the adult fare for you and a friend (with kids travelling for just £2) with a Devon & Cornwall Railcard – just £13 a year for local residents, now available to buy online.
