Why not head into Barnstaple early to explore the town before the Carnival begins? You could hire a bike and ride along the Tarka Trail, take a walk from the station on the South West Coast Path, or visit the historic Pannier Market (pictured above).
Forget the hassle of driving and instead enjoy a scenic train journey through the Devon countryside on the Tarka Line, arriving directly at Barnstaple station.
Trains to Barnstaple run hourly throughout most of the day (seven days a week). You can travel direct from Exeter Central and Exeter St Davids, with the journey taking approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.
