Free guided walk: Looe Ups & Downs

A coastal walk with a difference! On Tuesday 10th September, set off on a scenic 6-mile walk from Looe station to the coast via West Looe Downs, following lesser-known paths and lanes.

The Walk

Professional Blue Badge tour guide Mark Camp will be waiting to greet you at Looe station at 11.04 (see below for train times from Plymouth and Liskeard). Join him as you take lesser-known routes to reach The South West Coast Path, with plenty of stunning views along the way.

You will return to Looe by heading east along the coast, with a chance to stop at Hannafore for refreshments before walking back to the station to catch the 16.25 or 17.25 train home.

The walk is approximately 6 miles long. Please be sure to bring a packed lunch, plenty of water and don’t forget to wear appropriate shoes and clothing. Please note the walk begins with a steep climb. No dogs please.

How to book

The guided walk is free to attend, but you will need to buy train tickets as usual (and book in with Mark by email – see below).

Plymouth – Looe Off-Peak Day Return: £8.20

Liskeard – Looe Anytime Day Return: £5.90

To book your place on this walk please email Mark at walkaboutwest@btinternet.com and let him know how many people are in your party. Mark will email you back to confirm your booking.

Get there by train

From Plymouth catch the 09.45, arriving into Liskeard for 10.12 – allowing you plenty of time to transfer to The Looe Valley Line. At Platform 3, hop on the 10.36 to take you to Looe.

If you’re coming from Liskeard, you will also need to hop on the 10.36 from Platform 3.

The walk will end in time to catch the 16.25 or 17.25 train home from Looe.

Top tip – get a Devon & Cornwall Railcard (just £12 a year and now available online) to save a third on the above fares for you and a friend.
