Cotehele Christmas Garland – get there by train

This article is more than 10 months old.

Combine a visit to see Cotehele National Trust’s Christmas garland with a scenic trip on the Tamar Valley Line and a crisp riverside and woodland walk.

The famous 60-foot garland, made from thousands of flowers grown on the estate, is now available to view from 10.30am until 4pm each day until Sunday 7th January (closed 25-26 December).

How to get there

Starting from Plymouth station, the scenic journey on the Tamar Valley Line takes you across the 120-foot-high viaduct (shown above), arriving into Calstock in just half an hour.

Once there, set off on a riverside and woodland walk to Cotehele (1.2 miles – steep in places) where you can explore the house, gardens and the magnificent garland.

The Off-Peak Day Return fare from Plymouth to Calstock is £7.50 for adults. 5-15 year-olds are half price and under 5s are free.

Save a third off the adult fare for you and a friend (with kids travelling for just £1) with a Devon & Cornwall Railcard – just £12 a year for local residents. Now available to buy online.

Look up train times and buy rail tickets on the GWR website or app.
