Hop on the scenic Tamar Valley Line to Bere Ferrers this weekend for the return of their annual Apple Festival on Saturday 7th October!
This long-time feature in the Tamar Valley calendar is a fan favourite! It’s free to attend and will be held at Bere Ferrers Church Hall, just a 10-minute walk from the station, from 13 00 – 17 00.
The event will feature an apple pie competition, morris dancers, a mega raffle and more! You can even bring your own apples along for crushing and juicing – or buy some apple juice from a local seller.
Bere Ferrers is a beautiful riverside village so a visit to the Apple Fest can be combined with a walk (get directions for a three-mile circular walk) and lunch in the local pub, The Olde Plough (booking recommended), for a great day out in the countryside.
Trains leave Plymouth station at 12 24 and 14 24 with return trains from Bere Ferrers at 15 40 and 18 00. The journey takes twenty minutes. Trains also call at Devonport, Keyham and St Budeaux Victoria Road and, by request, at Dockyard.
An Off-Peak Day Return fare from Plymouth to Bere Ferrers is £6.20 for an adult, £3.10 for a child (5-15 years).
Save a third off the adult fare for you and a friend (with kids travelling for just £1) with a Devon & Cornwall Railcard – just £12 a year for local residents. Now available to buy online.
