Hop on the train to Calstock for a spooky family day out this October half-term at Cotehele National Trust.
There is no need to book in advance for any of the below events and they are free to join. Please note that normal admission charges for non-members apply.
Spooky Scarecrows at Cotehele (Sat 21st – Sun 29th / 11:00 – 16:00)
See how many spooky scarecrows you can find hiding in the garden. Spot the scarecrows and read their stories from local folklore to solve the mystery.
Cotehele Mill Harvest Celebration (Sat 21st – Sun 29th / 11:00 – 16:00)
Try your hand at making leaf hedgehogs and puppet scarecrows, and see local craft makers in action at the workshops.
Spooky Storytime (Tue 24th, Sat 28th & Sun 29th / 11:00 – 16:00)
Listen as a spooky scarecrow reads scary stories in the great hall.
It’s a scenic 30-minute journey on the Tamar Valley Line from Plymouth to Calstock. Hop off and either grab some lunch in the village at The Tamar Inn (just a 7-minute walk from the station) or head off on a crisp riverside and woodland 1.2-mile walk to Cotehele National Trust.
Trains leave Plymouth every 2 hours. The Off-Peak Day Return fare from Plymouth to Calstock is £7.50 for adults, with 5-15 year-olds half price, and under 5’s go free.
