The Great Big Green Week at Okehampton – get there by train

Hop on the train to Okehampton for great family activities such as nature walks and an eco fair as part of The Great Big Green Week – the UK’s biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.


What’s on

  • WILDLIFE ACTIVITIES: Saturday 10th June 10am – 4pm
    Pavilion in the Park, Simmons Park, Okehampton (a short walk from the station)

Join Plastic Free Okehampton, Okehampton United Charities and OCRA for a selection of wildlife activities for all ages including a nature walk and scavenger hunt along Ball Hill and Tramlines.  Be the first to use Okehampton’s new 2-Minute Litter Picking Station and take part in a Million Mile Clean. Refreshments and traditional family attractions will also be available from OCRA, Men in Sheds and Okehampton’s Community Garden.

Let’s make Oke Wild!  Join us at our annual eco fair where we you will learn lots of ways to create wilder spaces in your garden.  You will also be able to learn about sustainable farming practices, healthy soil, how to care for hedgehogs, Devon’s diverse habitats, sustainable lifestyle choices and more.  Wildlife craft activities for children, wildlife face-painting and a nature detective photo booth along with refreshments and tombola will also be available.

There is no need to book in advance and all of the activities above are FREE. Trains depart hourly from Exeter (Central or St David’s) to Okehampton.
