Hop on the train to Falmouth this Easter holidays and meet Detritus of the Deep and the Washed-up Mermaid at Falmouth’s National Maritime Museum. They’re here to ask a very important question – how can we help them save our oceans?
Detritus of the Deep and the Washed-Up Mermaid
Mon – Fri | 11am, 1pm, 3pm
Meet the king of the sea, Detritus of the Deep and his friend, the washed-up mermaid and listen to their stories and songs.
Flotsam Mermaid
Sat 16th & Sun 17th | 11am, 1pm, 3pm
Find Flotsam the mermaid somewhere inside the museum – is she a statue, or something more? Once you find her, you’re sure to have some bubble blowing, tail flipping fun!
Make and Take
Sat 9th – Sun 24th | 12.30pm – 3.30pm
Be inspired by Detritus of the Deep and the Washed-Up Mermaid and create a mask made from recycled items that you can take home!
Museum Trail

The events are FREE as part of the Museum’s annual admission fee. Pay once and get in free for a year. Booking advised.
Adults £15.50 / Under 18’s £7.75 / Under 5’s FREE
The Museum is just 5 minutes’ walk from Falmouth Town station (map). Trains run twice an hour from Truro, with the journey taking 20-25 minutes.
Look up train times and buy tickets on the Great Western Railway website or app. 5-15 year-olds travel half price, and under 5s are free.
