Great Western beach | Newquay

Newquay station is in the heart of the town, and from there you can be on Great Western beach (named after the railway) in no time. It’s a fantastic sandy beach that is dog-friendly all year round. Another to explore is Fistral beach, 1.3 miles from the station (map).

Hannafore beach | Looe

A short walk from Looe, get away from the crowds by exploring Hannafore beach. A mainly shingle beach, it’s great for rock pooling and offers views of St George’s Island. It is dog-friendly all year round (unlike Looe’s main beach which is dog-free).

Gyllyngvase is a lovely sandy beach which is great for families, and only a few minutes’ walk from Falmouth Town station. It’s the town’s largest and most popular beach.

Another great beach to explore on the scenic St Ives Bay Line. With a St Ives Bay Line Ranger ticket (£4) you can hop on and off and visit both Carbis Bay and St Ives’ Porthminster beach the same day.

Hayle Towans beach

On the main line, get off at Hayle for the step-free, gentle walk to enjoy three miles of golden sands as well as views across to St Ives and Godrevy Lighthouse.

Please note – while the beach is dog-friendly (outside of the summer season), Hayle Estuary is dog-free all-year round. See further info and maps from Cornwall Council.
