Great food in Looe – our 5 top tips

This article is more than 2 years old.

Hop on the train to Looe – with great views across the estuary as you arrive – then savour some scrumptious local food:

Located in one of the oldest buildings in Looe, formerly a haunt for Smugglers, the Old Sail Loft is an atmospheric restaurant with fine views over the river.

Tucked away in a side street, this cosy cafe welcomes dogs, kids and muddy boots and is a great place to enjoy everything from a hearty breakfast to afternoon tea.

There are a number of pasty shops in Looe to try but for pasties made fresh in front of you with the best quality local ingredients and handmade pastry, it has to be Sarah’s.

The award-winning Catch is a traditional fish and chip takeaway with a modern difference. All the fish served is sustainably sourced (Marine Stewardship Council) with seasonally changing specials from the boats landing fish on their doorstep in Looe harbour.

Want to take something home for dinner? Pengelly’s Fish Shop has been supplying the finest fresh fish for over half a century. Fish caught in day boats means it is as fresh as can be and is caught using sustainable methods.
