Bere Apple Fest returns for 2021 – UPDATE: CANCELLED

This article is more than 3 years old.

⚠️ UPDATE: With great regret, the organisers have taken the decision to cancel the event due to the forecasted stormy weather.

Residents in Plymouth are being encouraged to take the train from Plymouth to Bere Ferrers in the Tamar Valley to visit Bere Apple Fest on Saturday 3 October 2021.

This long-time feature in the Tamar Valley calendar missed last year due to the pandemic.

The returning Bere Apple Fest will feature a host of guest experts, demonstrations, the famous apple pie and children’s apple modelling competitions. There will also be the opportunity to sample locally made cakes and snacks.

All activities will take place under canvas outside the church hall in the centre of the picturesque riverside village and will run from 13 00 until 17 00.

Rebecca Catterall of the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership said: “With last year’s event being cancelled it is fantastic news that Bere Apple Fest will return for 2021. It’s a lovely event that can be combined with a walk, for a great day out in the countryside.”

Bere Ferrers is twenty minutes from Plymouth by train and the Apple Fest is a 15 minute walk from the station. Trains will leave Plymouth station at 12 24 and 14 24 with return trains from Bere Ferrers at 15 40 and 18 00. Trains will also call at Devonport, Keyham and St Budeaux Victoria Road and, by request, also at Dockyard station. The Off Peak Day Return Fare from Plymouth to Bere Ferrers is £5.40 adult, £2.70 child (5-15 years).
