Cotehele Christmas garland

Combine a visit to see Cotehele’s Christmas garland with a scenic train trip and riverside walk.

The famous garland, made up of more than 30,000 flowers, is available to view at Cotehele from 10.30am until 4pm each day until 5 January (closed 25 – 26 December). Admission to the National Trust property is £8.80 for adults, with NT members and under 18s free.

How to get there

Take the train from Plymouth station. The scenic journey on the Tamar Valley Line gets you to Calstock in just half an hour. The station is just after the 120-feet-high viaduct shown above. Look up train times.

Riverside walk

From Calstock take the beautiful riverside walk (1.2 miles) to the National Trust’s Cotehele property, where you can also explore the historic quay and relaxing woodlands.

Why not grab some lunch at the barn restaurant next to the main house?

If you’re peckish back in Calstock itself, explore the picturesque village and try its pair of pubs, The Tamar Inn (pictured above) and The Boot, both of which serve great food.

How much does the train journey cost?
The Off-Peak Day Return fare from Plymouth to Calstock is £6.10 for adults. 5-15 year-olds are half price and under 5s are free. Buy your train tickets at Plymouth station before boarding the train.
