Cotehele Christmas garland

Combine a visit to see Cotehele’s Christmas garland with a scenic train trip and riverside walk in the Tamar Valley.

The famous 60-foot garland is available to view at Cotehele from 10.30am until 4pm each day from Saturday 19th November (or sooner to see the work-in-progress) until Friday 6th January. Closed 25-26 December. There will also be choir performances, Victorian decorations at Cotehele Mill and more as part of the Christmas at Cotehele programme. Admission to the National Trust property is £9.00 for adults, £4.50 for children, with NT members free.

How to get there

Take the train from Plymouth station. The scenic journey on the Tamar Valley Line gets you to Calstock in just half an hour. The station is just after the 120-feet-high viaduct shown above. Look up train times.

Riverside walk
From Calstock station take the beautiful riverside walk (1.2 miles) to the National Trust’s Cotehele property, where you can also explore the historic quay and relaxing woodlands.

How much does the train journey cost?
The Off-Peak Day Return fare from Plymouth to Calstock is £6.70 for adults. 5-15 year-olds are half price and under 5s are free. Buy your train tickets on the GWR website, GWR app or at Plymouth station before boarding the train.
