Bere Apple Fest

This article is more than 6 years old.

Take the train from Plymouth to Bere Ferrers in the Tamar Valley on Saturday 6th October for the annual Bere Apple Fest.

The festival, which is held in the centre of Bere Ferrers, will run from 13 00 until 17 00. It will feature a host of guest experts, demonstrations and a chance for visitors to bring along their apples and turn them into juice as well as a variety of apple products on sale.

The festival will also include many musical interludes as well as plenty of opportunities to sample locally made cakes and snacks. See photos from last year’s festival.

More to see and do
Bere Ferrers is a beautiful riverside village so a visit to the Apple Fest can be combined with a walk (get directions for a three-mile circular walk) and lunch in the local pub, The Olde Plough (booking recommended), for a great day out in the countryside.

Go by train
The best way to get to Bere Ferrers from Plymouth is by train. An Off-Peak Day Return fare from Plymouth to Bere Ferrers is £5.10 adult, £2.55 child (5-15 years). Groupsave allows groups of 3 to 9 adults to travel together and receive a third off Adult Off-Peak fares.

Trains leave Plymouth station at 12 54 and 14 54 with return trains from Bere Ferrers at 16 10 and 17 54. The journey takes twenty minutes. It’s then a short walk through the village (less than 10 minutes) to the Church Hall where the festival is held (see map). Trains also call at Devonport and St Budeaux Victoria Road and, by request, at Dockyard and Keyham stations.
