Hop on the train this weekend and head to the Falmouth Oyster Festival (Thursday 12th to Saturday 15th October).
The festival is held at Events Square, next to the National Maritime Museum, just a five-minute walk from Falmouth Town station (map).
The line-up features cookery demonstrations, live music, food stalls, arts and crafts, Working Boat race, Grand Oyster Parade, shucking competition and more.
Taking the train
Trains depart half-hourly through most of the day (Monday to Saturday, reduced service on Sunday). The adult Off-Peak Day Return from Truro is just £4.40, with the journey taking 25 minutes. 5-15 year olds are half price and under 5s free. (The Penryn-Falmouth fare is £2.50 adult Off-Peak Day Return).
