Great British Food Fortnight

This article is more than 6 years old.

Great British Food Fortnight is the largest national celebration of British food and drink.

Running from 23 September to 8 October this year, the event highlights a number of initiatives and projects across the country promoting the abundance of great produce available at this time of year.

One way to support the fortnight is to shop at your local farmers market where you will be able to find out more about the person who produced the food you’re buying as well as top tips on how to cook it.

There are a number of fantastic food and farmers’ markets that you can get to by train:

Crediton Farmers’ Market- this long established market is held on the first and third Saturday of the month from 10 00- 13 00 with the next market taking place on Saturday 7th October 2017.

Barnstaple Real Food Market– This monthly celebration of local food and drink has over 30 local food vendors, artisan breweries and live entertainment. The next market is Sunday 8th October in Barnstaple Pannier Market.

Truro Farmers’ Market is held every Wednesday and Saturday from 09 00- 16 00 on Lemon Quay in Truro. Discover the best the Duchy has to offer at this colourful market.
