Rock Pool Ramble in Looe – go by train

This article is more than 7 years old.

Hop on the train from Plymouth this half-term for a seaside day out in Looe, South East Cornwall.

On Wednesday (15th Feb), you can enjoy a Rock Pool Ramble from 1.30-3pm at Hannafore beach (see map of the 1.2-mile walk through the town from Looe station).

With Looe Marine Conservation as your guide, you’ll discover the extraordinary winter rock pool residents and brighten up your February with an inspiring and invigorating rock pool ramble. Remember to wrap up warm. Meet below the coastguard station.

You can also enjoy the estuary views from the train on the journey there:

Taking the train

Plymouth to Looe costs £6.00 (Off-Peak Day Return).

5-15 year-olds are half-price. Under 5s go free. Groups of three to nine people get a third off the adult fare.

There are regular trains Monday to Saturday all year round.

The journey takes around 1 hour 15 minutes.

Buy your ticket on the day at Plymouth station before boarding the train (it’s the same price as booking in advance).

Change at Liskeard, where you need to head to Platform 3. This is a short walk from the main part of the station, so make sure to choose a train that gives you at least 10 minutes to change – especially on the outward journey.
